SQ2 Sanitary Sample Coolers
Keith Shuttleworth & Associates Ltd manufacture the SQ2 Sanitary Sample Cooler specifically for the safe taking of high quality chemistry/TOC, conductivity and microbiological samples from steam or heated water systems. The SQ2 Sanitary Sample Cooler is also available for “on line” applications.
The SQ2 Sanitary Sample Coolers are ideal for use in centralised sampling systems, as stand-alone coolers for point-of-use applications or as portable coolers to allow samples to be taken from multiple locations.
SQ2 Sanitary Sample Coolers are from the same stable as the SQ1 Steam Quality Test Kit, which is the choice of validation professionals throughout the world.
Traditionally, sample coolers have been manufactured to handle plant steam or boiler water samples and as a consequence are designed to be used in plant/utility boiler rooms rather than pharmaceutical plants or clean rooms. The SQ2 Sanitary Sample Cooler is designed to be installed and used in a clean environment, being constructed of bright polished stainless steel. The design includes brackets that allows the cooler to be stood off a wall/plant, allowing it to be easily cleaned.

Key Features
The SQ2 Sanitary Sample Cooler was developed to cool small volumes of hot WFI, USP purified water or clean/pure steam to safe, usable levels providing a continuous stream of cooled water or steam condensate. Constructed of seamless tube coiled in a compact configuration, these units are extremely clean, economical and efficient. The sample enters at the top of the cooler and flows downward through the self-draining coils of elecropolished, seamless stainless steel. The cooled sample is then collected from outlet at the bottom. The coils have ample transfer area to quickly reduce the temperature of the liquid.
The design principle has been that the quality of construction should better or at least match the system being sampled. The use of high quality materials reduces the risk of sample contamination. All sample contact surfaces are manufactured from electropolished seamless 316L stainless steel with Ra < 0.25 µm (10 µin) surface finish. The self draining, single continuous tube with no joints, assures long maintenance free operation. The all welded design of both coil and shell assures that the risk of any gasket leaks is eliminated.
Both fixed and portable SQ2 Sanitary Sample Coolers are capable of either steam sterilization or de-pyrogenation using a hot air process.
Fully traceable materials are used – a full certification package for product contact parts is provided with each cooler.
Simple installation. Designed for either wall mounting using integral 316L stainless steel brackets with space to allow cleaning behind, or for portable applications, where screw in stainless steel legs are provided.
100% 316L stainless fabrication with bright polish finish.
Easily cleaned and compact sanitary design to allow it to be located in clean areas (option for tri-clamp connections for cooling water). The compact design requires a minimum of space.
Sample outlet suitable for flaming.
Supplied with comprehensive operating and safety instructions.
