The SQ2 Sanitary Sample Cooler is designed specifically for the safe taking of steam samples for chemical/TOC and microbiological (endotoxin) analysis with the lowest risk of sample contamination. Avoid expensive and unnecessary test failure investigations

Simply review the specifications of your existing steam/WFI sample coolers.

If you have a TOC/chemistry/endotoxin test failure will the sample cooler specifications provide you with confidence that:

  • The cooler is self draining – to avoid internal contamination
  • You know conclusively what the materials of construction are to avoid corrosion – materials certification
  • That the surface finish (Ra) of the materials is known to you to minimise particulate/bacterial hold up – is it equivalent or better than the system under test, similarly weld quality
  • Are threaded fittings or compression fittings used on the sample side – unlike the system being tested
  • What was the manufacturing environment of levels of QA/QC – clean room assembly, welding methods, inspection etc.

If you are unable to answer all these questions satisfactorily, you will understand the problems that could be encountered during any failure investigation, which will be prolonged due to the reasonable doubts about the sampling system/method. Despite the obvious need for the cooler quality to match or exceed the system being tested, the use of poor quality, uncertified, unqualified coolers is widespread. It was our own experience of these practical and expensive problems that led us to design the SQ2 Sanitary Sample Cooler.

Two options are indicated – Specify high quality certified sample coolers for any new systems NOW and replace your existing coolers on a programmed basis. This will save your business some serious money during investigations. Even if the cooler is not the problem, its lack of certification/qualification may be and valuable time and money will be spent either determining that it was the cause, else excluding it from the investigation. The other and most common approach is to do neither and wait for a failure to occur and then replace the coolers on an distress/unplanned basis!
